A ton of Ulva pertusa, a species of macroscopic green seaweed absorbs 9.49kgCO2-eq of carbon dioxide per hour.
(Research results from Donghae Research and Fisheries Research Institute, National Institute of Fisheries Science) -
AquafarmingGlobally, seaweed absorbs carbon dioxide at least 5 times and up to 50 times more than wood.
Seaweed absorbs carbon dioxide as it grows and is used as food and is a great source of eco-friendly material.It takes approx. eight years to grow a big tree enough for logging.
After logging, the biomass becomes '0', but seaweed can be harvested every 60 to 70 days,
